Born on 24 Febuary 1959 in the
Bytom. He graduated with honours from the Music Academy in
Katowice where he first studied at the Department of Music
Education and continued at the Department of Conducting Professor
Karol Stryja's class.
During his studies he collaborated
there with the Ensemble of Ancient Music All'Antico. In 1983-87
he worked with many choirs in the region. In 1983 he led the
Ensemble of the 20th Century Music which specialized in performing
music of the contemporary composers, specially the Silesian
ones. In 1984-86 he conducted a chamber ensemble which consisted
of the best musicians of the Polish Radio National Orchestra,
with which he took part in such festivals like the Warsaw
Autumn or Silesian Days of Contemporary Music.
In 1984-85 he worked as a conductor
with the symphonic orchestra at the Music Academy in Katowice.
In 1986-90 he was the conductor of the Silesian Philharmonic
Orchestra and the artistic director of the State Symphony
Orchestra in Zabrze at the same time. Since 1990 he has been
the Managing and Artistic Director of the State Philharmony
in Białystok. Since 1996 till 1998 he has been the Managing
and Artistic Director of the Philharmonic of Poznań.
In 1991 he was awarded at the
Fitelberg Conducting Competition in Katowice and recelved
many prizes, one of them was a scholar-ship of the Artur Rodziński
Foundation that allowed him to deepen his conducting skills
at the Los Angeles and New York Philharmonics.
As a guest conductor he has visited
many orchestras in Poland abroad (Canada, France, Tunisia,
Germany and Ireland) and others. In July 1995, he conducted
the Philharmonics of Białystok at the tournee in Milwaukee
and New York (USA). The tournee gained enthusiastic reception
and was completed by the concert at Carnegie Hall.
He collaborates with Polish Radio
National Orchestra always. In May 1998, he has become the
Artistic Director of the Silesian Philharmonics in Katowice.
In the March 2000, he conducted
concert with the Sifonia Varsovia and Nigel Kennedy - as soloist.
